  • The Government of India is offering scholarships to International students from certain Asian, African and Latin American countries to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate degrees and for pursuing research at Indian universities. The applicants for MBBS, BDS or for medical research leading to a Ph.D. degree are not eligible for the scholarship.
  • The candidates applying for General Scholarships Scheme—GSS, 2022 should be from certain Asian, African and Latin American countries.
  • The mission should invite nominations directly through advertisement or through notices.
  • The applications sent directly, by the candidates will not be accepted.
  • The candidates are required to have good knowledge of English.
  • The applicants should mention the course and University to which they are seeking admission. 
  • The candidates applying for General Scholarships Scheme—GSS, 2022 should go through the “University Handbook” before selecting course and universities.
  • The applicants for doctoral/ post-doctoral courses must include a proposed research synopsis.
  • Arts students should submit video/ audio of their recorded performances.
  • The candidates should give three choices of the universities.
  • The applicants are required to have a proper visa from the Indian Embassy/High Commission. 
  •  selected candidate will be given a grant that includes a living Allowance Per Month, a House Rent Allowance, a Contingent Grant per annum, thesis and dissertation expenses for once in the entire duration, and of course, medical Benefits where all the above stipends are different for different courses.

  • Students should submit Annual Progress Reports, the copy of result and copy of valid Resident Permit for the continuation of the scholarship.
  • The scholarship offers contingent allowance towards purchase of books, stationery etc.  until the end of the course.
  • The contingent grant for Ph.D. students will be given up to 5 years.
  • The recipients also get tuition fees, university exam fees and other compulsory fees.
