The British Council has launched a scholarship programme in partnership with the University of Stirling aimed at benefiting women from South East Asia. This scholarship is open to women who are pursuing a postgraduate degree within our Institute of Aquaculture and who can demonstrate their need for financial support and who wish to inspire future generations of women to pursue careers in the aquaculture industry.
Eligibility criteria for the British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM, 2022:
- Applicants must be a woman (cis-gendered or trans) or identify as non-binary
- Applicants must be a passport holder and permanent resident of one of the following countries: Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam
- Applicants must have applied and received an offer to study one of the following degrees at the University of Stirling by the time you submit your scholarship application and be due to start your degree: MSc Sustainable Aquaculture
MSc Aquatic Pathobiology
MSc Aquatic Veterinary Studies
- Applicants must have completed an Undergraduate Degree that will allow you to meet the academic requirements of one of the eligible degrees listed above, before you submit your application.
Benefits of the British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM, 2022:
Successful applicants of the British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM, 2022 will receive the following benefits-
- Applicants receive full tuition fees.
- Applicants receive up to 12 months monthly stipend at the rate of £1,116 p/month to cover costs of living, including accommodation
- Applicants receive IELTS exam fee (for scholars without a valid Test of English)
- Applicants receive up to 3-month Online pre-sessional English course if required
- Applicants receive return economy-class travel from home country to UK (this will not reimburse costs of fares for dependants)
- Applicants receive study-related costs, such as essential travel, materials, equipment, thesis printing etc.
- Applicants receive visa and insurance / NHS surcharge costs
- Applicants receive ad hoc costs (heavy baggage allowance, etc.)
- If the applicant is a mother and widowed, divorced or a single parent, the bursary should also cover a child allowance of at least £465 per month for the first child, if they are accompanied by their child and are living at the same address in the UK.
